Conference in the Mirror of the European MS Movement

We look forward to meeting you in Pécs, Hungary, the European Capital of Culture 2010. The goal of our meeting is to set a frame for further cooperation in MS care and rehabilitation and to create an opportunity for discussions with special interest to the Central and Eastern European countries. *On the way together

The event organized for the representatives of civil organizations and patients with MS is part of a more complex congress. At the same time in March 2011, an international symposium is planned for neurologists and neuroimmunologists specialized in MS care. The combination of the two meetings will provide a special opportunity to interact and meet each other.

 

Preliminary program

Medical presentations and panel discussions will be arranged. The conference will focus on topics such as future MS needs, good practices and novel approaches in the fields of MS treatment and rehabilitation.

The program committee invites presentations and highly encourages participants to be engaged in the preparation of agenda.

 

Main topic proposals:

• Roles of MS centers and patient organizations

• Cross-border and international MS cooperation

• New rehabilitation strategies - the way forward

• Improving civil activities

• Myths and beliefs about MS, fears and trust towards drugs

• Doctor-patient interaction

Conference venue

The „Past and Future – Conference in the Mirror of the European MS Movement” will be held in Pécs in South-West Hungary.

Pécs, the fifth largest settlement in Hungary with a several thousand-year old architectural heritage, a sub-Mediterranean climate, a cosmopolitan gastronomy and deservedly famous red wines in its neighborhood. The first Christian cemeteries of Pécs dating back to the Roman city Sopianae in the 4th century are inscribed on the World Heritage List. King Louis the Great founded the first university of Hungary in Pécs in 1367. In 2000 the historic centre of Pécs was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List of universal cultural values. The city has been selected to the title of European Capital of Culture in 2010 besides Essen and Istanbul.

 

Participation

Participation is free for all MS patient organizations. The number of participants is limited to 3 persons per country. Hotel accommodation and full board will be provided by the Hungarian MSMBA during the time of the conference. Transfer will be organized from and to the Budapest Ferihegy Airport.

Please note, that due to the limited financial sources, we are not able to cover the travel costs so we have to ask you to finance and arrange it by yourself.

 

Participants/delegates

Participants could be a staff member or a volunteer responsible for issues related people living with MS. MS patients are welcomed as well.

All the conference venues are available for people with wheel-chair.
